India’s longest express corridor to connect Katra to Delhi forthwith, via Golden temple
In a huge development, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued land acquisition notification in accordance with the new proposal of Delhi-Katra Expressway. The longest expressway will pass through 279 villages of Jammu division.
The ambitious project of historic express corridor will directly connect Katra to Delhi making it extremely convenient for devotees traveling Vaishno Devi temple in Katra via the Golden Temple of Amritsar.
Union Minister of State, Dr. Jitendra Singh sharing the news through his social media handle stated that the most iconic express corridor will connect Katra with the national capital directly and will also provide instant access to the holy city of Golden Temple, Amritsar.
Delhi-Katra Expressway will pass through 279 villages of Jammu division and the land acquisition notification has been already issued. On entry into Jammu and Kashmir, the process of land acquisition related to this expansion or expansion of four-lane from 432.3 km route to 588.5 km will now be expedited. The DPR and survey work for this proposed expressway from Keediyan Gandiyal in Kathua district has started last month. After the notification is issued, the process of land acquisition is also going to be completed simultaneously for this ambitious project, as per reports.
India’s longest Expressway will be 156 km long in Jammu and Kashmir and will pass through four of its districts. While in Kathua, its length will be 43.4 kms long, Samba will have around 25 kms long, Jammu division will have 72 kms and other residential areas will have 16.5 kms of length summing up to a total of 157 kms in the region alone.
According to the official sources, in the junction of this expressway entering the Union Territory from Kathua district, the land of 37 villages of Kathua tehsil, 20 villages of Hiranagar and six villages of Nagri parol, as well as the land of 13 villages of Madheen tehsil, are partially included. In Samba district, 28 villages of Samba tehsil, 14 in Ghagwal tehsil, 21 in Vijaypur, five in Bari Brahmana, one in Ramgarh and one in Rajpura. Union Minister for Highways and Transport, Nitin Gadkari, has reportedly confirmed the development and reports of beginning this ambitious project soon from this year itself.
