Journalists make trends on TV and netizens on social media. And for the past 24 hours, one thing has been common on both - Rajdeep Sardesai. Ever since the “exclusive PR campaign” came live on India Today’s AajTak, the TV journalist has been in trends for the wrong reasons, again! He, leaving his studios in Delhi jumped the bandwagon to interview - Rhea Chakraworthy - a prime suspect of an alleged murder of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, all the way to Mumbai.

Rajdeep Sardesai is still on trends and trolls, but why would a journalist travel so far? Is he not famous or is Rhea significant than other issues of national interest? For the matter of fact, the death case of Sushant Signh is being actively probed by the trio of CBI, ED and Narcotics department, so what’s the hurry?

Rajdeep Serdesai is known for his controversial style of approach and seems highly influenced with leftist ideologies that can be clearly gauged from his shows. His questions and opinions mostly tend to be anti- rightwing and favouritism for left parties. This attitude has led him to face backlash from his interviewees and also trolls on social media. Let’s start with the latest one.

Rajdeep Sardesai Interviews late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s ex-girlfriend Rhea Chakraborthy.

Rajdeep interviewed Rhea Chakraborthy who is a suspect in Sushant Singh’s death. It is a matter of jurisdiction weather he really committed suicide or was murdered. But, the manner and time on which the interview was conducted is highly controversial. It clearly seemed that Rhea was on a “PR exercise” and wanted to clear her image in an ongoing high-profile investigation. The interview did not receive much appreciation, rather Rajdeep was on the receiving end from netizens and other fellow journalists like Barkha Dutt. She took on sly on Sardesai via a tweet .

A little back in time, on August 19, Sushant’s advocate too shamed Rajdeep on live interview when he refused to have a conversation with the journalist and left the interview when it had just begun.

Rajdeep is known for his anti- right wing tendency and was clearly visible after Aam Aadmi Party won the Delhi assembly elections, Sardesai was literally seen dancing in the studios. When quizzed, he rubbished the claim and said that he did because AAP won and not because BJP lost. We leave it up for the audience to decide if Rajdeep was really happy about AAP's win or BJP’s loss.

From former president Pranab Mukherjee to Maharashtra’s firebrand politician, Raj Thackrey, Union Minister Smriti Irani and even business tycoon Mukesh Ambani have slammed, insulted and sarcastically lashed at the TV journalist for his loose questioning, but it seems like the news anchor has a knack of it.

Businessman Mukesh Ambani says he does not take Rajdeep seriously.

Many journalists came to light after the 2002 Gujarat Riots, Rajdeep was one of them. He was known to question Narendra Modi about the riots in twisted ways and wanted the then Gujarat CM to speak of what he wanted to hear. So here is an episode where PM Modi rips Sardesai apart.

Further on in September 2014, when Narendra Modi as PM was in New York, Rajdeep followed. His love for hatred of Modi came at a price, a slap from an NRI in NYC’s Madison Square Park. If the crowd at the venue is to be believed, then it was Rajdeep’s fault as one among the crowd addressed him as “news trader” to which he burned abuses to the person but in moments got slapped by another. This followed by the crowd booing him with chants of “Modi… Modi” to add to his insults. Here is the video.

Union Minister Smriti Irani corrects Rajdeep to such an extent that he perhaps appears to be an unresearched intern.

And last but not the least, former President Pranab Mukherjee slams Rajdeep for his impolite behaviour and reminds him of the dignity of the speaker during a live TV interview.
