Delhi on target: Nine Al-Qaeda “Jihadis” Nabbed by NIA from West Bengal and Kerala

Saturday early morning raids by NIA have led to the arrest of nine Pakistani terrorists across Kerala and West Bengal. All terrorists have been identified as being from Al-Qaeda. These men were arrested from West Bengal’s Murshidabad and Ernakulam in Kerala.


Among the nine Al-Qaeda terrorists, three have been arrested from Ernakulam and six have been arrested from Murshidabad.


NIA in a released statement said that these arrests have been made as the group was reportedly planning a terror strike at significant locations across India with an aim to massacre innocents and create an atmosphere of terror’

 

Large quantity of incriminating materials including digital devices, documents, jihadi literature, sharp weapons, country-made firearms, a locally fabricated body armour, articles and literature used for making home-made explosive devices have been seized from their possession.

 

The investigating agency added that as per preliminary investigation, these individuals were radicalised by Pakistan-based Al-Qaeda terrorists on social media and were motivated to undertake attacks at multiple places including the National Capital Region.

 

​The arrested terrorists will be produced before the concerned Courts in Kerala and West Bengal for police custody and further investigation.
