In a shocking incident, the Chinese PLA on Monday opened fire at Pangong TSO in eastern Ladakh on what it claimed that Indian soldiers crossed the LAC, instead government sources confirmed India fired back as a “countermeasure” and pushed them back. However, no loss on either sides has been reported.
This came in a wake when China claimed that the Indian army fired "warning shots" and crossed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) near the Pangong Tso to which their soldiers took counter measures.
Rubbishing the Chinese claims, government sources clarified that first shots were fired by the Chinese troops. India carried out counter measures and pushed them back. The incident took place at a time when brigade commanders were talking to each other near the Chushul-Moldo BPM post.
Spokesperson of China's Western Theater Command, Colonel Zhang Shiuli, said that India, while acting provocative, illegally crossed the Line of Actual Control in Shenpao mountain near the south bank of Pangong Tso Lake. He said that during the operation, the Indian Army opened fire and threatened our soldiers. Statement issued by PLA also, describes the incident as 'serious military provocations of a very bad nature' or 非常恶劣, meaning "very evil / abominable" in Manderinn Chinese.
China further accused India of provocation, creating misunderstanding and severely violating agreements between the two sides and blamed that it (India) is working towards increasing regional tensions. Zhang Shuili urged the Indian side to stop this "dangerous game" immediately and asked the Indian soldiers to return to their border and take action against the soldiers who opened fire so that such an incident does not happen again.
As per ANI, an incident of firing took place on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Eastern Ladakh sector where troops of India and China have been engaged in a stand-off for over three months.
India recently outflanked China by taking control of strategic height near Pangong lake`s southern bank. It thwarted an attempt by the Chinese army to transgress into Indian areas near the southern bank of Pangong Tso near Chushul in Ladakh. The talks between the two sides have been going on for the last three months including five Lieutenant general-level talks but have failed to yield any results, so far.
