In a shocking conversation with a Pakistani journalist, Congress top leader Digvijay Singh has said that if Congress comes to power, the party will certainly relook the decision of abrogation of Article 370 in J&K. As per the viral Clubhouse app chat, Digvijay Singh while giving some strange arguments told the Pakistani journalist that “Democracy was not there in Kashmir when they revoked Article 370, ‘insaniyat’ was not there as they had put everyone behind bars”. Ever since the chat is leaked, while some have bashed the Congress party to be on the same page as Pakistan, many leaders and social activists took to their social media handles grilling Congress top leader for his anti-national remarks.

While responding to a Pakistan-based journalist Shahzeb Jillani in a recent Clubhouse chat, Congress's top leader and Rahul Gandhi's aide, General Secretary Digvijay Singh said, “Democracy was not there in Kashmir when they (the central govt.) revoked Article 370, ‘insaniyat’ was not there as they had put everyone behind bars”. The Pakistani journalist had alleged during the conversation that ‘post revocation of Article 370, the relationship between India and Pakistan has strained’.
In the viral audio clip, Singh has not only made several comments criticizing the decision of the government to revoke article 370 but also went on to comment that "‘Kashmiriyat’ is something that is the fundamentals of secularism. Because in a Muslim-majority state there was a Hindu King, and both worked together. In fact, the reservation in Kashmir was given to Kashmiri pandits, therefore, the decision of revoking Article 370 and reducing the statehood of J&K, is a sad decision. And the Congress party will certainly have to relook at this issue.”
Shortly after the audio was leaked, strong reactions started pouring in on the social media platforms against the Congress party, and General Secretary Digvijay Singh. The party has been severely criticized for such disgraceful and anti-national statements on a public platform.
Meanwhile, although Digvijay Singh is facing too much backlash from the people across India for siding a Pakistani journalist and saying distasteful things on Clubhouse app, there are some leaders who seem to be finding solace in Singh’s statement. National Conference Chief Farooq Abdullah has reportedly expressed gratitude to Digvijay Singh on his clubhouse chat remark and welcomed it heartily saying that he is grateful to (Congress leader) Digvijay Singh Ji who realizes the sentiments of people as other parties who have also spoken about it. He rather hopes that govt will look into it again.
Unfortunately, such leaders while giving any baseless arguments forget the actual issues surrounding J&K which is Pakistan-backed terrorism and misery of the people of J&K at their hands. Noticeably, on Saturday J&K has suffered another terror attack wherein locals have also been targeted. Two security personnel and two civilians have lost their lives in the terror attack at Sopore town of Baramulla district in north Kashmir.
