On Tuesday night, two terrorists opened fire at CID Inspector Parvez Ahmed Dar in Nowgam leaving him severely wounded. In the terror attack, Dar sustained serious sounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. Preliminary investigations revealed that two terrorists fired upon the officer with pistols and fled the spot.

Meanwhile, as per the latest reports, after police registered a case and initiated investigation, some suspects have been identified and are being questioned in connection with the killing. J&K Police have released CCTV footage of two terrorists firing upon the CID officer from point-blank range while he is seen walking on the roadside.

The police had cordoned off the area immediately after the terror incident and searches in the area are still going on strong to nab the terrorists.

LG Manoj Sinha while condemning the terror incident said that the terrorists will not be spared for the brutal killing of Inspector Parvez Ahmed Dar of J&K Police outside mosque in Nowgam. He assured that Dar’s supreme sacrifice will not go in vain.

The terror attack has also taken place just ahead of PM’s meeting with all regional parties of J&K on June 24. For the high-profile meeting, invitations are already accepted by the party leaders like Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti and it is scheduled for tomorrow.

Ironically, four years back on the same day in 2017, DSP Ajay Pandit was also brutally murdered by terrorists outside a mosque while he was on duty. Both the killings with striking similarity do not seem to be unplanned and thus have sent shockwaves across the nation.
