As per cops, the explosion took place in a private hired vehicle. The soldiers have been shifted to the hospital where condition of one soldier is stated to be critical and further investigation is on to nab the terrorists. Police said the investigation is under way to find out the nature of the blast which could either be a sticky bomb, an IED explosion or a grenade blast.

 

 

Pertinent to mention here that, on Wednesday evening, a civilian was fired at by terrorists in Shopian district. His health was described as stable. Recently, there has been an increase in attacks on citizens in the Union Territory.

 

 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to chair a high-level meeting in a couple of days to discuss the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. This will be the second such meeting in less than 15 days. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and senior officials of the Central government and union territory will participate in the meeting.

 

 

In may alone, there have been 14 encounters in which total 27 terrorists were neutralized. Out of 27, seven were Pakistani terrorists and while orher 20 were local terrorists. This is the highest kill in the month of May.
