Narco smuggler arrested with 1.91 crore cash and 250 gram heroine in Udhampur of J&K, Narco- terror angle can't b ruled out , said police

In a big success for security forces, J&K Police has busted a massive narco module in Udhampur district and recovered a huge stash of cash. Heroine about 250 grams and Rs 1.91 crore cash were recovered with arrest of one accused while his associate died in an accident during an attempt to flee from the spot.
 
"At about 2230 hours patrolling party of the police station, Udhampur which was on patrolling duty near the Gole mela patrol pump noticed two persons moving in a suspicious manner. On seeing the police party, both persons ran towards the main road. One person while on the run was knocked down by an unknown vehicle and said person got seriously injured. The police party on duty immediately shifted the injured person to District Hospital from where he was referred to GMC Jammu. During treatment, he succumbed to his injuries,” said the police.
 
 
The deceased has been identified as Mukhtiar Ahmed, a resident of Prada Tangdhar in Kupwara of Kashmir. His accomplice Jagtar Singh, a resident of Pakhopur village in Tarn Taran of Punjab, has been arrested. The Scorpio vehicle bearing Punjab registration number was also seized.
 
" A case under relevant sections has been registered and an investigation set into motion. Preliminary investigation reveals that both were involved in the narco-trade,” said ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh. However he also didn't rule out narco - terrorism angle saying it will remain a part of the investigation.
 
SSP Udhampur said, "The investigation is being carried out regarding the angle of narco-terrorism wherein money is used to fund terrorism in J&K. We can come to any conclusion only after the investigation. The police are also trying to know if the drug seized from Jagtar had come from Pakistan."
