The Union Home Ministry on Friday banned the People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), an offshoot of the terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed, under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for carrying out terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir and elsewhere.
The MHA's notification said that PAFF is a proxy outfit of Maulana Masood Azhar-led Jaish-e-Mohammed and was involved in terror acts and issuing threats to Indian security forces, political leaders, civilians in J&K, and other states.
Along with other organisations, the PAFF is indulging in radicalisation of impressionable youth for recruitment and training in handling guns, ammunition and explosives. The group has also been involved in terrorism. It has committed and participated in various acts of terrorism in India, the ministry said.
The Union Home Ministry also designated Arbaz Ahmad Mir, a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative, as an individual terrorist under the stringent anti-terror law UAPA, 1967.
Mir who hails from J&K but is presently based in Pakistan and working for the outlawed terror group LeT has been involved in target killings and has emerged as the main conspirator in the killing of woman teacher Rajni Bala, in Kulgam of J&K a few months ago.
Mir has also been involved in coordinating terrorism in the Kashmir valley and supporting terrorists by transporting illegal arms or ammunitions or explosives from across the border, the ministry said.
