Shahid Latif shot dead in Pakistan
 
One of India’s most wanted terrorist and Pathankot attack mastermind Shahid Latif was gunned down by unknown gunmen in Pakistan's Sialkot.
 
Outlawed terrorist group Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM)’s Commander, Latif was wanted by the National Investigative Agency (NIA) in an Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) case. He was the key conspirator of 2016 Pathankot terrorist attack and handler of terrorists who sneaked into Indian territory to carry out attacks.
 
Pakistan based Jaish terror group had taken the responsibility for the 2016 attack on the air force base in Pathankot. On 2 January 2016, a heavily armed group attacked the Pathankot Air Force Station and the gunfight between security forces and terrorists ensued for four days in which five terrorists were killed and six security personnel were martyred. 1 more security personnel had succumbed to his injuries during treatment raising the death toll of security personnel to 7.
 
In 1994, Shahid was arrested by Indian agencies on charges of terrorism and following a 16 year imprisonment, he was deported to Pakistan in 2010. He was also an accused in the 24 December, 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines (Kandhar hijacking).
