In a major setback to Aam Aadmi Party, former chairman of National Panthers Party and ex- minister Harsh Dev Singh singh on Thursday resigned as the chairman of it’s Jammu and Kashmir unit as well as primary membership of the party.

In his resignation letter to AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Harsh Dev Singh said that due to some personal reasons, I can no longer continue in the Aam Aadmi Party and am therefore quitting the same with immediate effect.

"This communique as such, be treated as my resignation from J&K chairmanship of the party as well as from primary membership of AAP" he said.

Pertinent to mention here that Harsh Dev Singh had joined AAP on May 7, 2022 at New Delhi and his joining the AAP was seen as a major boost to Kejriwal led party’s expansion plans in Jammu and Kashmir after neighbouring Punjab.

Soon after submitting his resignation, Singh announced to revive Jammu and Kashmir National Panther’s Party founded by his uncle Prof. Bhim Singh, who died last year after prolonged illness.

Before Harsh Dev Singh, another NPP leader and former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia had also joined the AAP last year for party’s expansion in the J&K UT but resigned later.
