Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has written a letter to PM Narendra Modi urging him to look into the plight of Kashmiri Hindu employees of J&K. Rahul Gandhi said that forcing them to return to their work in Kashmir valley without security amid such circumstances is a cruel move.
Gandhi who recently concluded Bharat Jodo Yatra, met with a Kashmiri Hindu delegation in Jammu during his last leg of Yatra. The members of the delegation apprised him about the problems being faced by them and put forth the insensitive attitude of UT administration who are forcing them to join their duties in the valley in the wake of targeted killings by the terrorists.
Rahul Gandhi wrote to PM, "As part of my Bharat Jodo Yatra, I met a delegation of Kashmiri Pandits in Jammu who told me that government officials are forcing them to return to Kashmir,".
"In this situation, without the guarantee of security, forcing them to return to their work in Kashmir is a cruel move. The government can accommodate these Kashmiri Pandit govt staff in other departments," he added.
Gandhi also condemned the attitude of J&K’s LG for calling them `beggars’ and said they are just protesting for their rights. He highlighted that may be PM Modi is not aware of the plight of Kashmiri Hindus and the situation they are in, so by this letter he wanted to convey their plight as he had promised them.
Earlier Rahul Gandhi had demanded an apology from J&K’s LG for using `beggar' word for the protesting Kashmiri Hindus.
It is pertinent to mention here that 4000 Kashmiri Hindu employees have been protesting seeking transfer out of the Valley claiming that the security situation is not favourable for their return to work but Manoj Sinha said there will be no salaries for protesting Kashmiri Pandit employees.
