In a befitting response to Taliban government, Afghan girl wins gold medal in MA from Gujarat University
Razia Muradi, an Afghan national, has won a gold medal in MA Public Administration earlier this week at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University. Ambitious Razia proved it to the Taliban government of Afghanistan that woman can excel in any field if given the opportunity.
During her convocation, Razia said that she represents the women of Afghanistan who remain deprived of education. She lashed out at Taliban for banning woman for all sorts of education and also for stopping them from working.
Muradi came to India on a two year MA programme but couldn’t return home due to Taliban takeover. Prior to that, Muradi worked as humanitarian worker in Afghanistan.
Feeling happy about her accomplishment but said at the same time because she hasn’t met her family since long time and she’s missing them. She said she is happy but sad also for not being able to meet my family for three years.
Razia completed her MA in April 2022 and now pursuing PhD studies in Public Administration. Apart from winning a gold medal, she has also received the Sharda Ambelal Desai Award.
Razia hopes that by the time she finishes her PhD, the situation in Afghanistan will improve and she will be able to return to her country as she wants to bring a change in her country and wants to work for development and rehabilitation.
Reportedly, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR)has provided scholarships for some 14,000 Afghan students to study in India. Razia was also sponsored by the ICCR.
