Nation salutes Kargil War Heroes Naik Dev Prakash and Rifleman Mehar Singh (Vir Chakra Awardees) who fought heroically in the face of enemy fire and achieved the target

 

In the battle to capture Point 5140, a strategically important feature in the Drass sector during Operation Vijay, On June 20, 1999, Naik Dev Prakash and Rifleman Mehar Singh went close to the enemy bunkers through an unexpected route in the face of heavy enemy fire, inflicting heavy damage on them and achieved the target.

 

Both Naik Dev Prakash and Rifleman Mehar Singh were awarded with Vir Chakra for displaying selfless courage and aggressive determination in the face of enemy.
