Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday morning laid foundation stone of 'Balidaan Stambh’ (Sacrifice Memorial Pillar) at Pratap Park in Srinagar to commemorate the security personnel who sacrificed their lives for the country.
Earlier today, Union Home Minister visited Baltal to take stock of the preparedness for Shri Amarnath Yatra which is scheduled to start from July 01.
Amit Shah during his two days visit of J&K also chaired a security review meeting in Srinagar last evening. He also laid foundation stones for various developmental projects and inaugurated the ‘Vitasta festival’ in the city on Friday.
"Held a comprehensive security review in Srinagar. Glad to see the agencies adopting a multi-pronged approach to ensuring security. Continued peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir is one of the prime goals set by PM Modi.
As part of his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, Shah on Friday afternoon inaugurated and laid foundation stones for various projects in the Samba district.
He laid the foundation stone of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) and handed over the Golden Health card to beneficiaries.
The Union Minister also addressed a public meeting in Jammu and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will form the government in 2024 by securing over 300 seats and becoming the Prime Minister again.
Shah launched direct attack on former J&K CM’s Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti asking them who is responsible for the death of 42000 people in J&K as their parties were in power in the erstwhile state.
Shah said that 2056 civilians were killed in J&K when the Congress was in power at the Centre from 2004 to 2014, while the number came down to 377 under the BJP Government.
The number of separatists sponsored calls for strikes calls dropped to 32 after the abrogation of Article 370 while there has been 90 percent decline in the stone pelting incidents.
The tourist footfall in J&K in 2022 touched 1.88 crore, which is a record. During the rule of three families, not even fifty percent of this number was recorded.
The Union Minister also remembered the contributions of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerji on his death anniversary and recalled that Bengal is a part of India due to the late leader's efforts.
Shah also met the family members of victims of the Rajouri terror attack.
