Jailed terrorist Yasin Malik’s wife Mushaal Mullick has been appointed as special advisor (equivalent to Minister of State)to Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul-Haq-Kakar for human rights and women empowerment. She will be a part of 18 member caretaker cabinet that took oath on 17th August,2023.

However, Mushaal will not be a complete minister in PM’s cabinet since she is not a Pakistani national. She is a native of Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir, called Azad Kashmir by Pakistan and has long advocated against Indian Kashmir. A full or deputy minister has to be a Pakistani while special assistant can be dual nationals.

Yasin Malik is the chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), which was banned in 2019. It was him who spearheaded terrorism in the Kashmir valley in 1989. Malik is also facing the trial in abduction of Rubaiya Saeed, daughter of the then Home Minister Mufti Mohd. Saeed and sister of former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti and an attack on four IAF personnel by JKLF terrorists in Srinagar that left four dead in 1990.

Mushaal got in touch with Yasin Malik in 2005

Mushaal married JKLF Chief and terrorist Yasin Malik on February 22,2009 in Pakistan’s Rawalpindi. As per reports, both met for the first time in 2005 when Yasin Malik was on a tour of Pakistan to seek support for the separatist movement in J&K.

Presently, Mushaal lives in Islamabad with her daughter Raziyah Sultana, (12). She is constantly appealing to leaders of Pakistan and international community to protect his husband Yasin Malik, who was convicted by NIA court in a terror funding case and is serving life sentence in India’s Tihar jail. In May this year, NIA approached the Delhi High Court seeking death penalty for him.
