In a display of unwavering courage, Indian Army dog Phantom lost his life today during an anti-terror operation in Akhnoor area of Jammu district.

The incident occurred when terrorists opened fire on an Army convoy, sparking a pursuit that led to an intense encounter.

According to a statement from the Army’s White Knight Corps, Phantom, a highly trained service dog, was instrumental in the operation. As the troops advanced on the terrorists, Phantom bravely drew enemy fire to shield the soldiers, suffering fatal injuries in the line of duty.

In a tribute, the White Knight Corps tweeted, “As our troops were closing in on the trapped terrorists, Phantom drew enemy fire, sustaining fatal injuries. His courage, loyalty, and dedication will never be forgotten.”

Reports indicate that three terrorists, believed to be Pakistans, have been killed in the encounter. However, official confirmation has so far only been made regarding the death of one terrorist, while confirmation of the other two is still awaited.

However, news agency PTI has confirmed that all three terrorists have been killed by the security forces in the 27 hour long encounter in Jammu’s Akhnoor sector.
