The Jammu and Kashmir government dismissed two employees on Friday for their involvement in terrorist activities. Abdul Rehman Naika, a pharmacist, and Zahir Abbas, a school teacher, were terminated under Section 311(2)(c) of the Constitution, which allows the government to remove employees without a formal inquiry in cases of national security concerns.

Naika, from Devsar in Kulgam district, had been working as a medical assistant since 1992 whereas Zahir Abbas, from Kishtwar district was appointed as a teacher in 2012. The dismissals followed thorough investigations by law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has taken similar actions in the past, with 66 government employees removed since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
