Massive snow avalanche hits Gulmarg, one foreigner dead, several missing

 

An avalanche has hit ski slopes in Gulmarg on Thursday, resulting in the death of one foreigner skier and one reported injury, with several others missing.

 

The District Disaster Management Authority reported that five foreigners ventured onto the ski slopes without local residents, leading to their entrapment in the avalanche. Three foreigners have been rescued and are undergoing treatment in the hospital. Unfortunately, one person has lost their life, and one is still missing. They also mentioned that teams from the army and police are actively engaged in the rescue operations.

 

Avalanche hit Khilan marg on the slopes of Afarwat Peak in world famous skiing destination.

 

It's also important to mention that the Khelo India Winter Games are currently underway in Gulmarg, scheduled to continue until February 25. Participants from all parts of India have gathered for the event.
