Disregarding concerns about the India alliance, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti clarified on Wednesday that her party will contest on all the three seats in Kashmir in the Lok Sabha elections for which the list of candidates will be released shortly.

Mehbooba Mufti, while speaking to reporters, said that considering the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, it was essential for the PDP and NC to contest the elections together, but the NC left them with no option.

It's essential to note that the National Conference has also announced its intention to contest on all three seats in Kashmir, and both the PDP and NC are parties within the India alliance.

Both NC and PDP are partners in the PAGD (People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration) too besides being part of the India alliance, and their stance in the elections indicates that things are not as straightforward as they are being portrayed.

NC's Vice President Omar Abdullah has also stated that due to health reasons, sitting MP from Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Abdullah will not contest the elections this time.
