India and China have decided to restart the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in the summer of 2025. This decision was made during Foreign Secretary Shri Vikram Misri’s visit to Beijing on January 26-27 for talks with China’s Vice Foreign Minister.
The pilgrimage, which holds great spiritual significance for Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains, had been suspended in recent years. The two countries will now work on the details of the yatra through their established mechanisms.
The meeting also focused on strengthening ties between India and China, including resuming direct flights, improving cooperation on rivers, and promoting cultural and media exchanges. With 2025 marking 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations, both sides aim to restore mutual trust and enhance people-to-people connections.
