Normal life fully restored in Ladakh after violence; all restrictions lifted

Ladakh has returned to complete normalcy with the lifting of all restrictions, restoration of internet services, and smooth functioning of schools, colleges, and transport services across the region. The development comes two weeks after violence in Leh town left four people dead and nearly 100 injured.

Chairing a high-level security review meeting in Leh on Thursday, Kavinder Gupta, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, expressed satisfaction over the prevailing calm and commended the administration, security forces, and citizens for their coordinated efforts in restoring peace.

An official statement from the L-G’s office said, “Restrictions in Ladakh have been lifted in view of the people’s cooperation and responsible behaviour.”

The LG said, “The people of Ladakh have shown exemplary patience and unity during recent challenging times.” He said that their spirit of cooperation has been instrumental in quickly restoring normal life across the region. “The restoration of normal life is a clear reflection of the people’s faith in the administration’s commitment to ensuring safety, stability and inclusive growth,” he added.

Gupta praised the patriotic spirit of Ladakh’s residents, he said, “Ladakhis have always stood shoulder to shoulder with the rest of the country in safeguarding national interests.”

He urged citizens to remain vigilant, support law and order, and actively participate in development initiatives to ensure a prosperous and secure future for Ladakh.
