The Jammu and Kashmir Government has revealed that a total of 631 people from outside the Union Territory have bought land in J&K since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.
The information was shared in the J&K Assembly by the Revenue Department in response to a question asked by MLA Sheikh Ahsan Ahmed.
According to the officials, the land purchases have taken place in both Jammu and Kashmir regions over the last six years.
In Jammu, 378 people from outside the UT have bought 212 Kanal and 13 Marla land, valued at Rs 90.48 crore.
In Kashmir, 253 non-resident buyers have purchased 173 Kanal and 7 Marla of land, worth Rs 39.49 crore.
Overall, 386 Kanal of land across J&K has been sold to people from other states, with a total value of Rs 129.97 crore.
