Jammu kashmir byellection nagrota
In the bi-annual assembly elections, BJP’s Devyani Rana has won the Nagrota seat with 42,350 votes. The seat had fallen vacant after the passing of BJP MLA Devender Singh Rana last year. He had died just days after taking his oath. Devyani Rana, his daughter, contested the bypoll and has now secured the seat.

Meanwhile, in Budgam, the contest remained tight through the day. PDP candidate Aga Syed Muntazir was leading by over 2,685 votes against NC candidate Aga Syed Mehmood when the last reports came in.

The bye-election was held after Omar Abdullah resigned from the Budgam seat. Abdullah had won both Ganderbal and Budgam in the 2024 assembly polls but decided to retain Ganderbal.

The main fight in Budgam has been between Aga Syed Mehmood of the National Conference and Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi of the PDP led by Mehbooba Mufti. Final results are awaited.
