The Indian Army has achieved a major logistics milestone by inducting tanks and artillery guns into the Kashmir Valley through a special military train. This step highlights the Army’s enhanced mobility and strengthened logistics capability up to the northernmost part of the country.

The development has been made possible due to improved rail connectivity in the region. The Northern Railway has already been using container-based wagons to transport apples from Kashmir, along with vehicles and cement. These initiatives have played an important role in supporting trade, industry, and infrastructure development in the Valley.

“The Indian Army achieved a major logistics milestone on December 16, 2025, with the induction of tanks and artillery guns into the Kashmir Valley by a special military train,” the ADGPI announced on X.

“This milestone was achieved in close coordination with @RailMinIndia, underscoring the transformative impact of the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project in enabling rapid logistics build-up and strengthening operational readiness along the northern borders,” the ADGPI said.

The induction of heavy military equipment through rail marks a significant boost to operational preparedness and reflects the strategic importance of the USBRL project for both national security and regional development.
