A deadly suicide bombing hit Bannu city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan on March 4, killing 12 people, including 5 children, and injuring 30 others. The attack targeted a security camp and caused massive destruction in the area.
According to officials, two vehicles filled with explosives were used for the attack. The explosion was so powerful that a nearby mosque collapsed while people were praying inside. Right after the blast, six armed terrorists tried to enter the security camp, but soldiers fought back. A gunfight took place, and all six attackers were killed.
A group linked to the Pakistani Taliban has taken responsibility for the attack. They claim that many Pakistani soldiers were killed. However, the military has not yet confirmed any deaths. Meanwhile, Bannu District Hospital has reported that at least 12 people have died.
Rescue teams are working at the scene, trying to find more people under the rubble. The injured have been taken to hospitals, and some are in serious condition.
This attack comes just days after a suicide bombing at a seminary in the same province on February 28. In that blast, top pro-Taliban cleric, Hamidul Haq Haqqani, along with four worshippers, was killed, and 20 others were injured during Friday prayers.
