After the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 innocent people, the Indian government started a strict drive to identify and deport Pakistani nationals staying in the country. The Centre has directed all state governments to find Pakistanis living in India, cancel their visas, and send them back immediately.
As part of this move, hundreds of Pakistani nationals have been caught who were living in India for over 10 years. Some of them had come on valid visas but never returned, while others had even married and settled in Indian society.
According to reports, Pakistani nationals are being loaded in vehicles and sent back across the border via the Wagah-Attari route, which has now been closed for regular travel. All existing visas for Pakistanis have also been cancelled.
One shocking claim has come forward — a man named Osama, reportedly from Rawalpindi, Pakistan, has claimed that he has been living in Uri, Kashmir since 2008. Osama completed his 10th and 12th schooling in Kashmir and is now pursuing his bachelor’s in computer science. He claims to have even voted in elections — a right reserved only for Indian citizen
He says he has an Aadhaar card, ration card, and even voted in elections. If true, this raises serious questions about how foreigners have been misusing the system.'
At the time when Osama came to India, the Abdullah government was in power in Jammu and Kashmir. He claims that within just 15 days after his arrival, he got the visa stayed. He claims he also possesses the domicile certificate of J&K.
People are now asking: how can someone from Pakistan get Indian documents and even vote? Who helped them? And how many such people are still living among us?
The government has said it will take strict action against those who helped such illegal activities and ensure national security is not compromised again.
