Pakistan has officially nominated U.S. President Donald J. Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, just days after he had lunch with Pakistan’s powerful military chief and Field Marshal Asim Munir.

Government of Pakistan, through its now-withheld account in India, posted the following statement on X:
“Government of Pakistan Recommends President Donald J. Trump for 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. The Government of Pakistan has decided to formally recommend President Donald J. Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, in recognition of his decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership during the recent India-Pakistan crisis.”

Trump has shown interest in winning the Nobel Peace Prize many times before, and this nomination seems to support that dream. But since Pakistan made this announcement just a few days after Trump met their army chief, many people are now thinking that there might be some political reason or message behind it.

The Indian government has clearly stated that Donald Trump had nothing to do with the ceasefire after Operation Sindoor, which was a big military operation by Indian forces against terrorists and their infrastructure in Pakistan after the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 innocent tourists and one local Kashmiri were killed. Even Trump himself said earlier this week that India and Pakistan decided on the ceasefire on their own, without any help from outside.
