After US Action on TRF China Condemns April 22 Pahalgam Terror Attack

A day after the US designated The Resistance Front (TRF), as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), China condemned the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and called for more cooperation in the region to fight terrorism.

In response to the US action, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said:

“China firmly opposes all forms of terrorism and strongly condemns the terrorist attack that occurred on April 22. China calls on regional countries to enhance counterterrorism cooperation and jointly maintain regional security and stability.”

When asked specifically about the US State Department’s decision to list The Resistance Front (TRF) — a front group of Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taiba, as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT), Lin added: “China denounces all forms of terrorism.”

This came just a day after the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the designation of TRF and highlighted its role in the deadly April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 civilians.

“Today, the Department of State is adding The Resistance Front (TRF) as a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT). TRF, a Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT) front and proxy, claimed responsibility for the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam attack which killed 26 civilians. This was the deadliest attack on civilians in India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks conducted by LeT. TRF has also claimed responsibility for several attacks against Indian security forces, including most recently in 2024,” the statement read.

Pahalgam terror attack and aftermath:

On April 22, terrorists backed by Pakistan attacked tourists at Baisaran meadow in J&K’s Pahalgam, killing 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen, and injuring many others. In response, the Indian Armed Forces carried out ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7, striking nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. These precise attacks killed over 100 terrorists and gave a strong reply to the deadly Pahalgam attack.
