Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board on Friday announced that the Yatra to the holy shrine in Katra will restart from September 14 (Sunday), subject to favourable weather conditions.

In an official statement, the Board said: “Following a temporary suspension necessitated by inclement weather conditions and essential maintenance of the track, the Yatra to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shall resume from September 14 (Sunday), subject to favourable weather conditions.”

The pilgrimage had been suspended on August 26 after heavy rains and a cloudburst triggered a massive landslide on the Adhkuwari route in Trikuta hills, Reasi district. The tragedy claimed 34 lives and left about 20 others injured.

Officials said repair work on the damaged route is in progress, and the decision to restart the Yatra was taken after reviewing the safety of devotees.
