
A soldier was martyred after being critically injured in a gunfight with terrorists on Friday evening. He passed away early Saturday while the Army and J&K Police resumed their joint operation in the forest area along the Dudu-Basantgarh belt of J&K’s Udhampur district.
Officials said the soldier was hit when terrorists opened fire on a joint search party of the Army and the Special Operations Group (SOG). He was immediately rushed to a hospital, but despite all efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
Another encounter with terrorists is also underway in Kishtwar district as contact with terrorists was established on Friday evening, army said.
Army’s White Knight Corps posted on X earlier: “In an intelligence-based operation in the general area of Kishtwar, troops of the White Knight Corps established contact with terrorists at around 8 pm on 19 Sep 25. Exchange of fire took place… Contact Site of the ongoing operation is Doda-Udhampur border…”
Meanwhile, "Alert White Knight Corps troops while carrying out an intelligence-based joint search operation with J&K Police, recovered one weapon (AK Series), four AK magazines, 20 Hand Grenades and other warlike stores in Poonch Sector”.
