In a historic first for the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 26-year-old Assistant Commandant Simran Bala from Jammu and Kashmir will lead an all-male CRPF contingent during the Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path in New Delhi on January 26, officials said.
This will be the first time that a woman officer commands a CRPF male contingent at the Republic Day parade, marking a significant milestone for the force and for women in uniform.
Assistant Commandant Bala will command a contingent of more than 140 male CRPF personnel as they march during the national event, showcasing discipline, professionalism, and the evolving role of women in India’s security forces.
Bala hails from Nowshera in J&K’s Rajouri district and she joined CRPF after clearing the UPSC’s Assistant Commandant examination. Her participation is being seen as a moment of pride for Jammu and Kashmir and an inspiration for young women aspiring to serve the nation in the armed forces.
