The encounter in Jammu Kashmir’s Udhampur district entered its second day on Wednesday, with security forces preparing for a final assault on two Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists hiding inside a natural cave, officials said.
There was no exchange of fire during the night. The area remains under tight security, with Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF personnel maintaining a strong cordon.
The terrorists were traced on Tuesday afternoon around 4 pm in the forest area of Ramnagar during a joint search operation. After they were spotted inside the cave, a fierce gunfight broke out and continued for more than an hour.
According to reports, one terrorist was injured during the encounter but managed to escape into the cave along with his associate. Security forces are keeping a close watch on the area and are taking all necessary precautions.
