One terrorist has been gunned down by alert security forces in Kishtwar district of Jammu Kashmir during an ongoing counter-terror operation on Wednesday.
The killing took place during Operation Trashi-I, a joint operation being carried out by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF in the dense forest areas of Kishtwar.
In a post on X, the White Knight Corps of the Indian Army said:
“In the continuing search and elimination of terrorists in the Kishtwar region, where the hunt has already led to several contacts in the dense forests and challenging terrain, contact was re-established with the terrorists on the run in the ongoing joint Operation Trashi-I, by the troops of CIF Delta #WhiteKnightCorps, @JmuKmrPolice and #CRPF at around 5.45 pm today in the general area of Dichhar, Kishtwar. One terrorist has been successfully neutralised. Operation is in progress.”
Security forces said the operation is still underway as troops continue searches in the area to track down other terrorists believed to be hiding in the area. Additional reinforcements have been deployed, and a cordon remains in place.
The Kishtwar district has witnessed a series of encounters in recent months as security forces intensify operations against terrorist groups operating in the difficult terrain.
It is pertinent to mention here that earlier in the day, two Pakistan sponsored Jaish-e-Muhammad terrorists were killed by security forces in Udhampur district of J&K.
