Pakistan’s Embassy in Kabul came under gunfire attack on Friday evening after a gunman opened fire at Head of Mission, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, who remained unhurt, however, a security guard got critically injured while saving him.
 
 
The attack on Pakistan’s embassy in Kabul occurred in the wake of heightened tensions between two neighbouring countries over Durand line conflict over which both keep exchanging bullets.
 
 
Lately, a Taliban gunman shot dead a Pakistani security guard at the Chaman border crossing, which led to closure of border for a week.
 
 
It is pertinent to mention here that just a day ago, Pakistan’s government had demanded Afghanistan’s Taliban government prevent terrorist attacks being organised ftom their soil.
 
 
Afghan Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi strongly condemned the attack on Pakistan’s embassy in Kabul, and said that the Taliban will not allow any “malicious actors to pose a threat to the security of diplomatic missions in Kabul”.
 
 
The head of mission, Ubaid Ur Rehman Nizamani, was the target of an attack on its embassy compound, Pakistan’s foreign ministry said on Friday. It added that Nizamani was safe, but a Pakistani security guard was critically injured in the attack while protecting the ambassador.
“I strongly condemn the dastardly assassination attempt on Pakistan Head of Mission, Kabul,” Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Twitter.
